Born and raised in Motown Detroit, singer-songwriter Jill Govan brings a fresh perspective to soul music. Jill’s eclectic sound blends sultry vocals, compelling stories, and acoustic-driven grooves reminiscent of great artists like Lauryn Hill, John Legend and Norah Jones.
Growing up in the church, Jill began singing in the youth choir and writing songs at age 11. She rounded out her talent when she picked up the guitar as a 19-year-old student at Wayne State University. Since then, Jill has honed her gifts performing at venues across Metro Detroit including opening for Kierra Sheard, Fatai, and Grammy award winning artist Lecrae. Her E.P. entitled “Smell The Roses” set to release Spring of 2020 is a mix of coffee shop acoustic tunes and folk-soul melodies with a message to slow down and enjoy each day.
