Born in Tokyo, and raised in southern California, saxophonist Kenji Lee has already made his mark as a remarkable improviser, composer, and bandleader. A proud resident of Detroit, Kenji performs often with Juarez - Lee -Alvarez, Wayne Horvitz' royal room collective music ensemble, Kenji Lee's clandestine reality, and the Kenji Lee quartet. Kenji holds degrees from the University of Michigan in jazz studies and music education. Kenji has performed at many venues including Carnegie Hall (NY), the Detroit Jazz Festival (MI), the Emmett Ray (CAN), Jazzspot Intro (JP), Cliff Bell's (MI), the Jen Conference (TX), Jazz Central Studios (MN), Bert's (MI), Kerrytown Concert House (MI), Hill Auditorium (MI), Steamer's Jazz Cafe (CA), and Renee & Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall (CA).
