Main Gallery Opening: SLAW

Born and raised in Detroit in the mid1960’s, SLAW has been exposed to a diverse range of cultures and lifestyles. With an opera singer for a mother and an artist as a father, it was inevitable that SLAW would inherit some form of creative talent.

After spending four years at College for Creative Studies, he ventured into the world of advertising. After several years in the field, SLAW decided to explore being an independent artist. He has had a studio at the Scarab Club as well as several other spots in and around Detroit. His art has been shown in galleries across the country, and his art can be found in several museums, including the Detroit Historical Museum. SLAW has been featured in several prominent national publications, including Crans, Jukstpose, and Art & Business News. Locally, he has been featured in Detroit MetroTimes and the Detroit Free Press. SLAW also has the distinct honor of being the only artist to host a solo show at the Roostertail. His work is described as 1960’s cocktail kitsch and pulp fiction with a dash of The Jetsons thrown in for humor.
