Born and raised on Detroit’s East Side near Gunston Street, Basil Zaviski is the creator of “Gunston Street Comics,” which ran for over 15 years in Stars and Stripes magazine. Zaviski’s work has also been featured in the Scarab Club’s 2017 Awards Exhibition.

A true Detroiter who is giving back to the city he loves, Zaviski has found yet another way to show his deep appreciation by applying his colorful imagination to any and all styles and mediums through his Detroit Art Project.

The Detroit Art Project recognizes unique places all over the city with original artwork that honors the distinct character of the city.
